FEB 2025: BOAT RAMP REPAIR AND CLOSURE

What is happening?

The community boat ramp is in need of repairs and will be closed for approximately 12 days starting in mid-February.  Please be aware the ramp will not be able to be used under any circumstances during this time.

What work is being done?

Roughly 10 feet of the mid-section of the ramp (where the upper and lower slabs meet) will be completely replaced along with new concrete along the right side of the ramp up to the Marina fence.  This will fix an erosion issue that has caused the lower slab to drop down where it meets the upper slab, and will prevent future erosion to that area.

Anything else I should be aware of?

This repair addresses a specific issue of erosion near the mid-section of the ramp and along the right side. The ramp is now over 35 years old and may have other issue that creep up in the future.

As with any boat ramp, never back your trailer down past the end of the ramp, where the concrete slab meets the bay floor.  Over time, the bay floor can wash away and create a steep drop off that could damage your trailer, vehicle or boat.  This is especially an issue during lower tides where you may want to back down further.  If you are unable to back up far enough for your boat to float without reaching the end of the concrete portion of the ramp, wait for higher tides!

As a general reminder, use of the launch ramp is always at the user’s risk. MBCA and MMCA assume no responsibility for damage or injury in or around the ramp area, so we ask that you always be careful, use common sense, and report any concerns to the MBCA or MMCA board of directors.

…and most importantly, have a safe and wonderful 2025 boating season!
